Stepping onto the path of enlightenment, young Kumara’s educational odyssey began at Kadana Dakunu Batagama Buddhist Mixed School. A beacon of charisma and likability, he endeared himself to all at Mattumagala Karunarathne Buddhist College, laying the groundwork for his future as a revered spiritual leader.
Embracing Monkhood: A Call to Serve
In answer to the call of his soul, Welisara Soratha Thero embarked on the sacred journey of monkhood under the esteemed Malvathu chapter. Guided by venerable mentors such as Ambanwela Pannasekara Thero, Makkinagoda Jnanawansa Thero, and Handurumulle Sri Sumathi Thero, he embarked on a quest for spiritual enlightenment.
Academic Pursuits and Spiritual Ascension
Enriching his spiritual arsenal, Welisara Soratha Thero pursued primary education as an ordained monk at Udunuwara Geliyaoya Thelambula Nigroda Ketta Pirivena, followed by advanced studies at Maradana Sri Lanka Vidyala. His higher ordination on July 15, 1972, amidst the tranquil waters of the Kelani River, marked a pivotal milestone in his spiritual journey.
